Why Attend Oracle OpenWorld 2018?

Oracle

Golden State Warriors President Rick Welts, string theorist Brian Greene, former CIA and US National Security Agency Director Michael Hayden—and, of course, Oracle Executive Chairman and CTO Larry Ellison and CEOs Safra Catz and Mark Hurd—will be among the headliners at Oracle OpenWorld 2018, to be held in San Francisco October 22 to 25.

For two decades, Oracle’s vast community of technology and business professionals has come together at Oracle OpenWorld to solve problems, learn about the latest product innovations and roadmaps, and get inspired. By purchasing an all-inclusive conference pass, attendees of this year’s event get access to more than 2,000 educational sessions, including main-stage and product keynotes, product training and certifications, tutorials on emerging technologies, meet-ups with product experts, and peer-to-peer networking opportunities.

Oracle OpenWorld 2018 also will feature case studies on how more than 350 Oracle customers, including AT&T, FedEx, Dropbox, Gap, Avis, American Red Cross, and Caesars Entertainment, are using the latest cloud products and technologies. Discover how these companies upgraded their products, migrated their workloads, connected their business processes, and built and executed on their strategies. Registrants can browse the lineup under the "Real Stories, Real Customers" filter on the Oracle OpenWorld session catalog.

As in past years, registrants can build a custom schedule of all of the sessions they plan to attend, using an online tool accessed on the Oracle OpenWorld site. Among the overarching themes for sessions at the event: Your Autonomous Future (autonomous database, artificial intelligence, machine learning, chatbots); Tomorrow’s ERP, Today (finance, procurement, planning, budgeting, reporting); Your Evolving Customer Experience (how to acquire, delight, and retain customers); The Changing Workforce (recruiting, talent management); Actionable Business Insights (data analytics, business intelligence, forecasting); Transformational Technologies (Internet of Things, blockchain, robotics, virtual and augmented reality); and Bulletproofing Your Business (security, compliance). Among the other high-profile speakers at the event will be former US Homeland Security chief Jeh Johnson, producer and author Nele Galan, 1715 Labs CEO Sophie Hackford, Eurasia Group political economist Ian Bremmer, Glitch CEO Anil Dash, and Snips CEO Rand Hindi.

Alongside Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle will be hosting three companion events in San Francisco: Oracle Code One, to be held at Moscone West, expands on the JavaOne developer events of past years to include more languages, technologies, and developer communities, while keeping the deep Java technical content for which it’s long been known.

Oracle Leaders Circle, to be held at the Intercontinental Hotel, just up the block from Moscone, will feature presentations by bestselling author Robert D. Kaplan, PwC Chief Client Officer Amity Millhiser, and a variety of other thought leaders. This invitation-only event is limited to 350 customer CXOs and VPs. Also at the Intercontinental will be SuiteConnect, aimed at leaders of businesses that use Oracle NetSuite’s financial, commerce, and other cloud applications.

Oracle OpenWorld attendees who hold a full conference pass are invited to an evening of first-class entertainment at AT&T Park on Wednesday evening, October 24, when singer/songwriter Beck; rock band Portugal. The Man; and American indie pop act Bleachers will perform. The entertainment will begin at 6:30 p.m. and end late—plenty of food and refreshments will be on hand.
