Google Knol Is Dead

Small Business Mavericks

Google has finally decided to kill its Knol pages. The big question is, Why? It’s been 3 1/2 years since Google opened up its Knol pages to the public. My suspicion is the service isn’t as popular as Google initially thought it would be so they are either selling it or making some kind of deal with the new owners/developers to keep the product going under a new name. The Google Knol home page links to a company called Annotum , which will be the new name of Knol pages starting in May 2012. They appear to target scientific industries and academic or scholarly organizations.

Indiana AIDS Fund’s #knowpositive Campaign: Social Media For Good

Firebelly

Help us raise funds for 500 AIDS test kits. December 1st is World AIDS Day. I’ll be tweeting as part of an all day Indiana AIDS Fund “Tweetathon” to raise money for 500 free AIDS test kits that cost $10 each. Unlike the five marathons I’ve completed – there has been no special diet, no special training and no one to cheer me at the finish line. Social Media.

15 Wasteful Habits of Unproductive (and Unsuccessful) Part-Time Bloggers

Kikolani

This is a guest post by Dr. Bob Clarke. It’s hard enough to build a successful and profitable blog when you have all day and night to devote to it. But when you’re a part time blogger working around a full time job, taking care of the kids and/or your elderly parents, success can seem like it’s a mile away. While it’s not impossible to transform yourself from a part time blogger to a highly successful full time blogging machine (think Kristi Hines , creator of this blog and others), those blogging part time face unique challenges. You Don’t Understand WHY You Want to Blog. The result?

“K” is King in Brand and Company Naming

Waxing UnLyrical

Guest post by Donna Vincent Roa. The power of the letter “K” has always fascinated me. In college, one of my favorite adjectives was “kafkaesque,” a word with three “K” sounds. The first time I heard this word, it resonated with me, and I wanted to say it again and again. There It’s a voiceless velar plosive and an oral consonant with air escaping through the mouth only. Permission is the Enemy of Speed

Convince & Convert

This week I’ve been writing about speed and response expectations for business on the social Web. Ultimately, speed wins. The companies that engage customers on Twitter and Facebook within minutes are making a none-too-subtle statement about their embrace of the social telephone and the primacy of the customer. So how do you win the speed race that has no finish line? Do you?

Why You Should Write 20 Posts Before You Launch Your Blog

ProBlogger

This guest post is by Aman Basanti of ageofmarketing.com. If you have not yet started a blog, stop. Write 20 to 30 posts before you launch. It may sound counter-intuitive, but this strategy may just be the thing to help you succeed as a blogger. It stops you from quitting. Here is the number one reason most bloggers fail: they lose the will to continue. Anyone who has ever started a blog will tell you that it is downright demoralizing to start a blog. Unfortunately for most people, that is the end of their blogging journey. It helps you build and maintain momentum on your blog.

As we move through the knowledge economy to a digital, experience or 'whatever you want to call it' economy! Knowledge is no longer a premium product.it is being commoditised.
