Three Ways to Create Content through Stories

Spin Sucks

After hearing Martin Waxman recount the keynote Soledad O’Brien gave on the opening day of the PRSA conference (I was playing hooky), about storytelling, and having written about creating an online conversation just yesterday, I’ve been thinking a lot on the topic. Once upon a time, storytelling was the way we passed information from generation to generation. Storytelling for Business.

5 ways to use social media for solution marketing

Slapped! Facebook Blocks Me For 14 Days

Ari Herzog

I am seeking re-election to the Newburyport city council and actively sending Facebook messages to people who live in my town to 1) introduce myself and 2) inquire if they would like to be my friend. Yesterday I sent nearly 80 friend requests over the course of the day and over two thirds responded positively to being friends. Today is a different story. When I wrote about the block on my wall, I received a harder slap and a 14-day block which you can see in the screenshot above. Note that it is unlikely I was marked as a spammer by the people I wrote. That is, if you want to be friends.

The Problem With The Status Quo

Twist Image

Stop me if you've heard this one before: "technology is the great disruptor." " In the fight against technology and the status quo, when have we ever seen the status quo win (and no, The Matrix and The Terminator do not count!)? The New York Times published the article, Amazon Signs Up Authors, Writing Publishers Out of Deal , and what do you think the macro concept points to? From the article. "Amazon will publish 122 books this fall in an array of genres, in both physical and e-book form. If you're a bookstore, Amazon has been in competition with you for some time. Hardly.

Tools That Inspire Blog Posts – SignNow.com

Jason Yormark

Every once in awhile I stumble across a tool or service that I just have to blog about.  This time around it is SignNow.com.  SignNow.com’s premise is dead simple, upload a document, sign it, send it. Of course SignNow.com is not the first site to offer this, but I can tell you first hand they are by far the fastest and easiest way I have ever found to have a signed document completed and sent…within minutes. As it stands, you don’t even need an account to use the service and it’s completely free (they do have a paid version on the horizon).

Is Social Media Still A Riddle?

Social Media Network Marketing

If you are still wondering if your Business and Brand should be on the Social Media scenario then the answer is yes if your Customers and Clients are online and on the Social Media Platform then you too should be. Social Media gives you the flexibility of doing things on the spot and changing them if you do not receive the relevant feedback that you may desire. This flexibility is due to the internet wherein you can do changes online in the real time. Knowing this increases your responsibility even more. You cannot work in a haphazard manner and bank on changing things.

Writing What They Don’t Want To Read: Bad News In Print

Waxing UnLyrical

Let me just say first that I’m writing this with the certainty that one of you PR pros will fly out of nowhere, tackle me to the floor, and pin me there with a stern lecture straight from your training about how to do this. You need to ensure you don’t open the door for that case with the kind of recorded communication lawyers love. Be respectful. . Be a windowpane.

Get More Out of Google+

ProBlogger

This guest post is by Matthew Weber of T3kd.com. When I first started blogging in early 2010, I was relatively new to social media. I had been a member of Facebook since 2004, but I was not using it to promote myself or my content: I was using to stalk old girlfriends. When I finally joined Twitter in 2009, I was unsure what the purpose of it was. Sure, I used Twitter. followed some feeds, some interesting famous people, and I had a few followers—most of them very special bots. tried different ways of doing this. tweeted more, and I started to retweet others’ content. Google+ is the same.

Talk to people like you would talk to people-It works

Direct Marketing Observations

I was just looking at recent tweet from someone I follow and was initially going to unfollow him because I thought he tweeted too much about himself. Until I realized after I had looked at a few of his previous tweets, why I followed him in the first place. It wasn’t who he worked for, or that he might be able to help me one day, as a primary reason of why I initially followed him. What it was, was that 1) he had a personality 2) he wasn’t pushing a product and 3) he actually provided some value from time to time. think I might have forgotten about that. The why of why I engage.

Why-Fi? Destroy Real-Time Social Media Obstacles

Convince & Convert

Although it’s expanded and morphed to become a catch-all term that means both everything and yet nothing, “social media” started with user-generated content, as sites like Yelp enabled consumers to weigh-in and sway collective opinion. After an in-office wine tasting, some of the AdFarm team and I went out on the town. And there’s no Wi-Fi at Wurst. Seriously?

Will Google Encrypted Search Kill SEO?

Small Business Mavericks

The SEO community is all up in arms over a little change that Google announced regarding encrypted searches. You can read Frank Reed’s take at Marketing Pilgrim. think I’ll have to agree with Frank on this one. If you’re concerned that your marketing will be less effective because you won’t be able to tell which keywords are leading to the most conversions, stop worrying. This change will affect such a small number of searchers that you’ll hardly notice. Most searchers don’t have a Google account. Just watch what happens and keep conducting business as usual.
