Plus-size brand 11 Honoré made a bold statement about visibility for plus-size fashion - and plus-size women - this week. They opened New York Fashion Week on Wednesday night with a show at Spring Studios in TriBeCa.

Featured on the runway were designs by Reem Acra, Dima Ayad, Badgley Mischka, Ryan Lo, Tome, Cushnie, Adam Lippes and Azeeza among others. Candice Huffine, Tara Lynn, and Marquita Pring were featured models.

This was a landmark show for plus-size fashion and a historic moment for plus-size women. Fashion has long catered primarily to the "straight size" market due to the longstanding rationale that plus-size women simply didn't want to invest in their wardrobe.

11 Honoré  CEO Patrick Herning's vision for this show was to give his customer the "same experience that her straight size counterpart sisters have."

#TransIsBeautiful spokeswoman and actress Laverne Cox closed the show with a balletic strut wearing a voluminous burgundy off-the-shoulder Zac Posen gown. “What an incredible honor to close @11honore’s first fashion show with these incredible women who represent the size diversity of the women of America,” Cox wrote on Instagram.
