How To Build Traffic To Your Blog: 4 Part Series

This article is more than 5 years old.

One of the biggest hurdles that I see for female entrepreneurs is obscurity.

Getting found is crucial when running your business. Whether you are on- or offline, if no one knows you exist, you don’t have a business. This is a big problem new entrepreneurs make when they start a business.

If you have a website for your business, you know that writing good content and getting traffic to it is important. How to do that is another mystery altogether. So I asked my good friend, Greg Digneo, to give me his top four tips to driving traffic to your blog. Tips that can be implemented by anyone just starting out - or for anyone who struggles with driving quality traffic to their website.

Greg is a mentor of mine and consults for Time Doctor and Staff.com to magnify their content creation efforts. Here’s what he had to say.

No doubt you’ve heard that you need to have a lead magnet on your website. Creating your own email list is important for any business and a solid lead magnet will do the trick. The problem is, most people have a boring white paper or ebook. Your lead magnet should be a tool. Something that can be implemented. Something that the user can put into action right away. Things like a swipe file or checklist.

Step 2: Choosing The Right Blog Post Topic That Gets Read.

There is nothing like the task of writing a blog post that will make you procrastinate with the best of them. Staring at a blank page is a writers worst nightmare. The solution to this is knowing your customers challenges and knowing what they are searching for, aka: keywords. From there, you can come up with a myriad of ideas that will help your customer and gain trust. When they trust your content, they come back to your site and refer their friends.

Step 3: How To Write A Blog Post That Gets Read

After deciding your topic idea, you don’t have to reinvent the wheel - but you do have to make a better one.

Did you know, 71% of people don’t trust sponsored ads? (WPForms) What does that mean? It means that the content you are creating needs to be so good, that it ranks organically. It solves your customers problem, and has the right keywords. Make it a “WOW” post.

Now that your post is created and fabulous, it’s time to release it into the world. For the most part, bloggers release it to Facebook, Twitter and email their list. But there are so many more channels to promote your post, as well as creative ways to leverage your connections. There are solid ways to make your post even more valuable by including others. This strategy helps you to utilize other people’s audiences.

You don’t have to create a ton of new content constantly. You just need to focus on creating amazing content and creative ways to promote it. Click on the steps to deep dive into each strategy for driving more traffic to your website.
