Live Stream: Why Is The Internet So Excited To Watch Burberry Autumn/Winter 2020?

This article is more than 4 years old.

As London Fashion Week draws to a close and the check-in desks for the fash pack's Milan-bound flights open, there is still one major show the fashion elite are sticking around for — Burberry Autumn/Winter 2020.

Since taking over from Christopher Bailey in 2018, CCO Riccardo Tisci has done very little to imitate the designs of his predecessor. In lieu of commercially-savvy staples and modern classics, the former Givenchy creative has injected the brand with sensual (yet somehow streetwear-friendly) glamour and contemporary craftsmanship like no other.

Though Bailey’s seventeen-year métier brought the withering brand back to life (eventually earning Burberry a spot as the only British fashion brand on the FTSE100), Tisci’s seasonal shows have pushed Burberry beyond anyone’s expectations.

And this season, he’s likely to do so again.

A few hours ago, Burberry dropped the ‘Robin’ bag (inspired by the TB Bag and finished with Tisci’s now-iconic Thomas Burberry monogram) as part of its 24-hour B Series, offering a preview of what’s to come for Autumn/Winter 2020.

And, if the campaign images are anything to go by, we imagine Tisci will unveil quite a few gender-fluid gems this afternoon.

It’s something the designer did incredible well at Givenchy and something an iconic British fashion brand might finally be able to tackle without dissent, given the current climate.

In the four seasons since arriving at Burberry, Tisci has employed graphic designer Peter Saville to change Burberry’s logo, referenced the UK’s seminal punk and rave culture, created subversive streetwear and extravagant gowns in equal measure, and even sent models down the runway with British passports hanging from their necks in a sly critique of post-Brexit Britain.

Whatever hits the runway today, it’s going to titillate. And that’s precisely why everyone, in-industry or otherwise, is waiting to live stream with click-baited breath.

You can watch the Burberry A/W 2020 show live, below, at 5pm GMT/12pm EST.
