Facebook Post Policing Now More In Your Face

Social media giant Facebook is now policing posts more openly. In a bid to stop the spread of fake news, Facebook has announced that page content will, effective immediately, be more transparent and accountable.

Anyone responsible for managing a Facebook page will now see a new Page Quality tab that highlights when content that infringes Facebook policy and community standards is deleted and when posts deemed to be false by a third-party fact-checker have had their distribution limited.

Facebook has also revised and updated it recidivism policy to make it harder for those who have had Facebook pages deleted for violating Facebook community standards to continue the same unacceptable behavior on a duplicate page.

The Facebook Page Quality Tab

The new Facebook Page Quality tab is designed to make it clear to Facebook page managers when their page content complies with Facebook policy and community standards and when it does not. It will show when unacceptable content has been deleted and when third-party fact-checkers – certified through a non-partisan International Fact-Checking Network – have deemed content or the headline to be false, or a mixture of accurate and inaccurate, or misleading or incomplete information.

This news will have boosted the fact-checking employment market globally. Time will tell how effective it will be.
