Twitter has unveiled a new update to its Explore section which separates the latest news into sections, helping to improve relevant content discovery.
???? just got an upgrade. We added sections so it’s easier for you to see the Tweets you care about the most, starting today in the US. pic.twitter.com/BuZA9CvgGk

As noted in the tweet, the update is only available to US users for now, though you'd expect that it will get a broader roll out in the near future.
It's hard to say how beneficial the option will be - Facebook tried similar back in 2016, but they canned the test shortly after it appeared for some users.
But then again, Facebook's not as aligned to real-time content as Twitter is, so it might actually prove more beneficial to Twitter users who are looking to keep up with the latest news and events.
And it's hard to fault Twitter's endeavor on this front - over the last two years, Twitter has been able to consistently boost its daily active usage rates through a range of enhancements, including algorithm sorting and improved discovery tools.
They're obviously on the right track in this regard, which would suggest that this addition may prove more beneficial than it might appear.
Definitely, there's an appeal there, you can see how users might appreciate being able to easily switch across and see what's happening in the various tabs. It'll be interesting to see how the usage rates stack up, and whether it can help Twitter continue to boost user engagement.
