Another year has passed and that means it's time once again to take a surface level skim over the sweet buttermilk that is Pornhub's 2018 year in review. As we learned last year, Pornhub loves collecting stats on the searches on its site. Since then, we've peered deeper into the porn statistics abyss, analyzing everything from Fortnite to, well, Red Dead Redemption 2. Ok, mostly video games, but you get the point.

Pornhub Insights has delivered its 6th annual year in review, revealing everything that we were searching for on the site, in colorful infographics and charts, ready for our caffeine-fueled consumption. Because if you aren't loaded on something before you cannonball into the pool of porn statistics, then you just aren't running a peak Tuesday. And every year, that pool just keeps getting deeper and deeper. This year, there were 4.79 million new videos uploaded to Pornhub from amateurs, models and content partners, feeding into 30.3 billion searches — 962 a minute.

Every year, and every time some new video game is hot, Pornhub pulls out the acoustic guitar, sits down on the staircase and while making direct eye contact with us, sings "What if God Was One of Us" while stopping to check to make sure it has the chords right every other verse. That is to say, the analytics are frequent and of varying levels of interest, depending on how high on porn data you are. While it is mildly interesting to learn that yes, searches for 'Stormy Daniels' increased every time she was in the news this year (curiosity is a salve for most modern pains of news-related intelligence gathering), it is equally if not more interesting to learn of the overwhelming per minute numbers that support all this porn.

Every minute sees 63,992 new visitors to the site, watching 207,405 videos through 57,750 searches. That minute sees 12 new videos and two hours of content uploaded. That minute sees 7708 Gigabytes of data transferred worldwide. That minute sees user statistics of 13,962 profile views, 593 follows, 167 friend requests accepted, 122 messages sent, 271 videos rates, 528 videos added to playlists and 22 new comments left. That's one hell of a minute. Think of any minute in your life and besides that minute back in high school where you actually got a fresh roll before they turned cold and rock hard, it's a pretty effective and efficient minute.

With all the data that Pornhub has presented this year, its tough to just pick one set of statistics and just run with that. There is one chart, near the top of the report that does well to illustrate how our behavior within the confines of the porn world reflect what is happening in the world around us. That chart lists the searches that really defined the sensibilities and realities that shape our worldview. Things like '4K', 'Stormy Daniels', 'Trans', 'Bowsette' and 'Tattoos' show up here, a clear correlation between the plight of seeking out and discovering new information presented in our social feeds, and our porn habits.

While I've just scraped the pudding skin off the top, you can check out the full Pornhub 2018 year in review report here (SFW) for all the details related to top searched for porn stars, top countries by traffic, time spent on the site, traffic by browser or operating system, favorite times to watch porn (whenever one is conscious) and searches by country and gender demographics and much more. While I would have loved to highlight as much as possible here, the Pornhub analytics team has once again done a great job digging into the search data and offering it up for our consumption. Like when I open 962 tabs in Chrome, there is something for everyone and plenty of it.
