Among my iPad apps is a quote-of-the-day rolodex of positivity and motivational thoughts called Transform Your Life — and the quote for December 28 is stuck in my head. It’s from Nelson Mandela: “There is nothing like returning to a place that remains unchanged to find the ways in which you yourself have altered.” If you can identify with being a stranger in a familiar space, then you can identify with my sensations on the first day of a new year.
