As summertime heat is in full swing across America, a little French bulldog Colorado has spread across the social media world for his cooling-off techniques.
Lenny the Frenchie, known as @lennythefrenchloaf on Instagram, gained popularity online for sliding several feet down an Aspen slope of snow during a heated hike with his dog mom, Trisha Peters.
"Lenny has always been a character, and always has loved the snow," Peters told me. "I know that we were all hot while we were hiking, and when we came across the patch of snow, we went down to it with Lenny so he could roll around in it. At first, he had his harness on and wasn’t sliding exactly, and Noah, my friend, took it off. Then it was full-effect sliding and Lenny was absolutely loving it."
Several other videos on Lenny's Instagram account showing the 3-year-old pup going back up to the top to slide down again and again.
Peters sent the video to viral-video blog, Barstool Sports, where it attracted more than 4,500 followers to Lenny's Instagram account and more than 2.2 million views in four days.
"We sent the video into Barstool Sports for fun, not thinking too much of it," Peters told me. "We had no idea the video would take off the way it did, but it has made us all laugh and happy as well because we are able to share a little piece of our lives with the world and that happens to be this hilarious Frenchie. Sometimes we all need a good laugh, and Lenny is always there to make that happen.
"Everything he does is quirky. He has a huge personality, and always wants to be involved in everything you do. He always wants to play, hike, cruise around town, or be social in any capacity," Peters told me. "I don’t think my social life can keep up with him. He has his own group of friends in Aspen. We always joke, it’s Lenny's world, we’re just livin' in it!"
Peters said that Lenny's quirks don't stop with his sliding techniques and she's confident he'll appear in additional internet-approved videos that will "spread positivity" across the internet.
