On Thursday, April 16, 2015, Google announced that they are beginning to remove the domain name from the mobile search results. Rather than displaying a URL in the search results or a domain name, Google has begun to display a website name or a website name and a breadcrumb of the website’s page.

Other than using a unique channel name to build a brand, think of the business or the end goal with your channel. If someone claims your name they also have the custom URL that goes with it. Without a custom URL, your channel’s web address will look something like this: YouTube.com/MpydOtyuVwZupTubasPHHcJ.

Once on the SEMRush.com website, at the very top there is a red toolbar with the words “Enter domain, keyword, or url” where you can do just that. I first wanted to test out what would happen if I entered a url. The interface for this site is very simple to use.

The Local Stack Hides URLs. Dr. Adam Paiso’s business, the “Livermore Chiropractic and Wellness Center”, is easy to confuse with his competitor, “Livermore Chiropractic” His domain name, drpaiso.com, helped clear up that confusion. Display URLs contain a ton of information for users.
