I gave a domain name back to its former owner. The former owner called me on the phone, told me that the domain name I bought several years ago at a Godaddy TDNAM domain name auction, was their former family-owned website. There are real people out there who forget to renew their domain names.

It’s a shame that these scams exist after all these years, as they have morphed from a search engine submission to even a domain name registration scam. Domain SEO Service Registration Corp. Why not use the domain email which is free with your hosting account? The bottom line is that if you have paid money to own a domain then you should, at the least, buy from a domain registrar that offers email forwarding for their accounts (we prefer Godaddy ). Set up an email account that uses your domain name.

I would actually suggest that if you have a self-hosted blog or website that you sign up for a free account with Pingdom. No crash = you’re paying an obscene amount for hosting or you’re not getting enough attention to your launch. For hosting customers, a crisis is any time their site is down.

Back in 2017, the original Nyaa torrent site named for cat’s meow in Japanese shut down. In the wake of the shutdown, various forks of the site popped up, all using the Nyaa domain name. The donations, paid as a monthly subscription fee, help the site’s administrators to pay the hosting fee and maintain the site.
