Google has activated their first New gTLD domain name, which is nic.google. Nic.Google currently redirects to the Google Registry. The Google Registry was looking for registrar partners to help test their registry platform. Google is planning on being the registry for the following New gTLDs: ???

There is a pretty nasty domain name appraisal scam going around that you need to be aware of if you own domain names. The scammer’s only intent is to make money from a domain name appraisal service, which is fake. This is a scam, and domain name owners should not fall for this online scheme.

On a regular basis, I watch the domain names that Google registers, as sometimes it is an indication of things to come–sometimes the registration of a domain name may indicate a future project. One of the domain name typos that they registered is coogle-analytics.com. google-ajalytics.com.

Apple has deleted over 500 domain names this week, and decided not to renew these domain names. Most of these domain names were registered by Apple exactly one year ago, and after coming up for renewal they have not renewed them. Furthermore, they don’t appear to have been indexed in Google.

It’s solid proof that the right keyword rich domain name will out-rank a hyphenated domain name in the search results every time. silktide did an SEO challenge where they used 3 different domain names and web sites and saw if nonsensical content or real keyword rich content would rank better.

Google Plus does recognize them , though. When you send an email to someone who uses Gmail, and you include a new gTLD in the email, Google does NOT make it a clickable link. TLDs, Gmail turns them into clickable links in the email when it was received, whether the sender made the domain name a clickable link or not.

I’m not sure what, but I am really curious as to why Microsoft recently registered 26 domain names at once: all related to the word contosoyams. The whole reason I bring this up is that Microsoft doesn’t normally register a lot of domain names all at once like this. Domain Names' contosoyams.net.

On Thursday, April 16, 2015, Google announced that they are beginning to remove the domain name from the mobile search results. Rather than displaying a URL in the search results or a domain name, Google has begun to display a website name or a website name and a breadcrumb of the website’s page.

I know Frank Reed says a recent ICANN ruling that will allow large corporations to purchase their own domain name extensions for their brands will only be available for the big guys – small businesses won’t be able to afford it. Where there are domain name extensions, there will be domain names.

With the Google Penguin algorithm update affecting so many websites, I have personally be involved in cleaning up a LOT of websites’ link profiles. The owner of a bunch of Cherokee Letter domain names is recommending that you buy his domain names–and use them in a Google AdWords campaign to commit what I would call outright fraud and deception.

At the very top of the page you can put in a URL to check to see if a domain name is available. I got the error message “Our internal risk system has prevented us from finding leads for this domain due to its material”. There’s a new search engine out there that apparently has ditched the legacy.COM,NET and.ORG TLDs (Top Level Domains) and only show New gTLDs in its search results. Using Google’s Custom Search Engine, Newgle has done what no other search engine has ever done before: only show search results from websites on New gTLD domain names.
