According to research from BuzzFeed , “Search traffic to publishers has taken a dive in the last eight months, with traffic from Google dropping more than 30%…While Google makes up the bulk of search traffic to publishers, traffic from all search engines has dropped by 20% in the same period.” But what does it mean?

If your website is receiving reduced web traffic or the present strategy in place is not working as efficiently as it once did then you probably have been penalized by Google. Every web portal has to abide by Google’s webmaster guidelines to reach amongst the top ranking in search engine results. Why did we get the Penalty?

I was going to compile a leaderboard similar to what I did in News Organizations on Google+: Which Pages Get the Most Engagement? Suffice it to say there are also a number of media brands doing well in TV, technology, sports, celebrity, art and more. Does Google Want Brands in Your Social Circle? DeviantART is also doing well.

If a site has been penalized by Google, or the website has been penalized by the Google Penguin algorithm update, then it’s necessary to take the time to try to get the low quality and toxic links that are pointing to your website removed. What google isn''t sharing with you is the fact you still need backlinks.

I’ve looked across websites and tested out various wordpress plugins in the Wordpress Plugin Directory , but was never able to find one that actually did what I wanted it to. My plugin sports several customizable features that I know you will love. and Why Google Wave? (1) So I decided to get to work on one myself.

Blog categories or an on-site article directory are excellent for this. Sponsor a local sports team. List your business in local business directories. Google loves websites with quality and recent articles. Google can show much more than your website URL in search results. Create relevant content on your website.

Submit to Contest Directories. Contest directories are sites that list various contests from around the web in a central location. Contest directories are made for people looking for free stuff, so you’ll end up getting some lower quality entries. A quick Google search will pull up plenty of directories.
