Badges – If you have badges that mention article directories or web directories, these provide no benefit and just serve as a distraction. Facebook like boxes – I’m personally not a fan of these, but if you have a large following they can provide a significant level of social proof. If ads aren’t performing, remove them.

If you rename the plugins directory, to plugins_temp for example, WordPress no longer knows where the plugin files are, and stops running them. If I have just added a new widget, I’d try to back this out. Connect to your site via FTP, and navigate to the wp-content/themes directory. Connect to your site via FTP.
