To get a basic idea I ran Page Speed , the open source Firefox/Firebug add-on that Google recommends, on the home page of 25 news sites. UPDATE: After Mike’s comment below I added Yahoo! Article Source Page Speed Score (article) 1 Yahoo! UPDATE: Adding Yahoo! 80 5 aolnews.com 77 guardian.co.uk

Such was the case for this Digg story , which compared multiple web hosting companies and watched as these hosts handled the traffic spikes that resulted from the Digg effect. Digg is the social media network of tech geeks, and the Digg statistics should not be too surprising: 39% of Diggers publish their own blog.

Ask.com’s question and answer database not only contains answers from Q & A sites like Yahoo! Surpasses 15 Million Downloads Open Source Matters, Inc. Answers and Wiki Answers , but the answers are coming from web pages that they have in their normal search database: like commercial websites. Is that helpful for you?
