Twitter is useful for me to follow themes and interests through curated lists. But I’m mostly there for the news, books, and restaurants, respectively. I don’t know whether I’d be needed in a physical classroom or to teach virtually. I use Twitter to share resources, collaborate, and chit-chat.

I continue to look at my lists before I look at the bigger feed of news and updates from everyone. I don’t look at every list every time I use Facebook; but I peruse through the lists, on average, more frequently than I scroll through the bigger news feed. By following more and curating everyone, I find order in chaos.

I want to learn my friends’ latest news and chit chat. I want my subscribers to read milestone announcements and other big news that I think the world should know. Curated lists were used a lot in 2012 and will be leveraged much more frequently to categorize people and observe trends. Twitter in 2013.

For instance, here is a curated list of people I’ve met offline. This is unfollowing so all of their wall updates now appear on lists and not selected algorithmic updates on my news feed. My news feed now only shows those people who call or text me on a regular basis. This is not unfriending.
