Facebook

Facebook Has New Look and Layout for Pages: Facebook has updated its Page design on desktop to make it easier for visitors to interact with a Page. These changes include:

  • Updated layout with a cleaner design.
  • More prominent button placements that drive actions that matter to your business such as encouraging people to book an appointment or browse your online shop.
  • Improved navigation tools that make it quick and easy for people to find important information about your business.

Facebook confirms that these changes have rolled out to all Facebook Pages.

Facebook Expands Number of Photos and Videos in Carousel Ads: FYI – Facebook doubled the number of images and videos that can be included in its carousel ads, from five to ten.  This is great news! I use carousel ads a lot for my clients, and five images was limiting.

Facebook Let’s You Get More Out of Your Local Business InteractionFacebook introduced some new ways for people to take action faster on Pages:

  • Order food: People can now order food from restaurants directly from their Facebook Pages. Simply click “Start Order” on any restaurant’s Facebook Page that uses Delivery.com or Slice.
  • Request an appointment: For local businesses that require you to book an appointment, such as spas and salons, you can now request a time via the business’ Facebook Page and view their entire slate of services and offerings. They’ll then get back to you on Messenger to confirm your appointment.
  • Get a quote: Some local business Pages will now have a “Get Quote” button at the top that lets you easily and quickly request a quote from the business.
  • Get tickets to movies and events: For many new movies this fall, you can buy movie tickets straight from their Facebook Pages via Fandango.

Instagram

Instagram Rolls Out Save Draft Feature: Instagram released a Save Draft feature that allows users to start creating a post, save it as a draft and share it later. After adding effects, filters, a caption, or a location to a photo or video, users can tap the back arrow at the top left of the screen where a new Save Draft button will appear. Drafts will be saved in the user’s Library, where they can return to continue editing their post and share it later.

This new tool will help marketers understand more about the specific ads and even the unique LinkedIn audiences that are driving campaign conversions and generate high-quality leads, acquire new customers, and raise brand engagement among LinkedIn’s global audience of 450 million professionals.

Blab & Vine RIP

FYI: Blab and Vine are dead…

Live video streaming apps are the hottest new apps, but not all of them survive! When Blab launched in August 2015, it was “Move Over Periscope, Meerkat, and Hangouts—Blab.im Is Taking Over the Live Streaming World”.  Well, not anymore. It shut down its live streaming platform in August.

And…Twitter announced the closure of Vine. Here are 3 ways companies who relied on the platform can revamp their video strategy.
