I’ve been working with a couple of monitoring tools, as well as with some developers who are researching new ideas in language and monitoring of conversations, so I know that his statement is correct. Then upgrade to a tool like Sysomos, Radian 6 or Ecairn Conversation.

After Google Reader closed, I started using Feedly but recently switched to Netvibes in favour of their iGoogle style RSS reader – either are solid RSS readers that will help you keep on top of things. . A few other random thoughts: PLEs provide contextually appropriate toolsets by enabling individuals to adjust and select options based on their needs and circumstance - resulting in (ideally) a model where needs, not technology, drives the learning process. Ideally, a PLE requires content and conversation to flow between different platforms.

The conversational style of writing is very easy for me and I like reading posts in this way, so that’s why I write them. Besides writing posts, the second most important thing to me is participating in the conversation. The area of growth for me was mostly Google Reader and Netvibes. —> great question.

What a conversion actually is varies from site to site, but for me, my conversions were product purchases and RSS subscriptions. This was simply an arrow graphic that pointed to my RSS subscription box which actually got me up to a 10% conversion rate (30 subscribers from 300 visitors) at one point. Made a few videos about it.
