Six Effective Ways To Repurpose Content and Generate TrafficTaking the time to write a long-form, well-researched article is not easy.

For many content marketers and writers, it takes approximately 20-45 hours to produce something great.

At this rate, however, it’s difficult to boost your website’s traffic on a consistent basis.

You need to be able to create these long and compelling pieces, without foregoing other means of content production.

After all, 87 percent of surveyed marketers have said producing engaging content is their greatest struggle!

This is partially because different individuals are engaged in distinct ways.

Some people prefer watching a video to reading an article.

Others prefer visual or auditory content.

Your job as a marketer is to ensure your audience has access to the top form of content they enjoy.

As a result, they will be more likely to promote it for you, thus increasing your daily visits from several different sources.

Repurpose Content as an Infographic

It’s 2016, which means it’s easier than ever to become your own, multi-talented machine.

Designing an infographic today no longer requires you to become a master of Adobe Illustrator.

There are plenty of infographic maker tools that exist online, at very affordable prices.

Some of them are so easy to use, you can whip out an infographic in less an hour!

Create a Powerpoint Template or Slideshare

It might seem shocking, but Slideshare is actually one of the top visited sites on the web.

With more than 70 million unique visitors a month, Slideshare dominates the content marketing world.

Twenty percent of visits to Slideshare come from Google.

There’s no doubt, if you repurpose content by transforming an article, infographic, or blog post into a Slideshare, you’ll see substantial benefits.

There are also so many sources online that provide a range of free and paid PowerPoint templates, many of which are original designs you won’t find anywhere else, making the process for creating unique and engaging Slideshare presentations that much easier!

Make a Video or Vlog

If you’re well-spoken, a vlog is a great way to bring in added traffic.

Many PR and marketing agencies usually take the typical approach when it comes to creating videos—they make them seem like a commercial.

But with YouTube, vlogging as such a prominent source of entertainment, it can bode well for a business to take on a more personal approach and teach the content directly to an audience.

Look at Rand Fishkin from Moz with his Whiteboard Friday videos.

Although professional, he speaks to you in an effort to help you understand a subject, rather than trying to sell you something.

A vlog can make a seemingly cold business seem friendlier and more approachable.

Furthermore, by posting your video on YouTube, you can still get SEO juice by writing up a description for the video.

Create a Download (PDF, Spreadsheet or Ebook)

Creating a PDF version of your blog post, an ebook or an excel worksheet is a great way to generate leads, while repurposing your content.

Neil Patel, Brian Dean, and a wide range of digital marketers use this tactic to recycle their content, while building a list of valuable readers.

Create a Podcast

Podcasts are a really effective way to reach out to those who consider themselves auditory learners as well as commuters who don’t like to read, or don’t have the option to.

I used to take transit to work and read all the time, but now as someone who drives to work, I listen to podcasts more frequently than reading blog posts.

The benefit of creating podcasts is that you can promote them on iTunes.

Additionally, you can kill two birds with one stone by uploading a video of you recording the podcast on YouTube!

Webinars

Another great way to boost traffic and repurpose content is through webinars.

Hosting a webinar with your users and readers not only provides them with invaluable information, but it lets them feel a bit closer to you as a business owner.

By showing your face and speaking with your audience directly, you establish a much stronger relationship, thus resulting in them becoming advocates for you and your company.

And guess what? You can record the webinar and upload it as another video to YouTube!

Instead of spending 20 to 45 hours on just one great blog post, repurpose content into numerous traffic-generating pieces.

In doing so, you can track which methods are most effective in bringing people to your site, and focus more on creating the pieces that work best.

Coming up with new and engaging content ideas is hard enough as it is, why not make the most of those great ideas by spreading them out to more sources?
