There’s been a lot of noise about Google+. Personally I’ve got a love/hate relationship with Google+. I’ve noted before that the Google+ Business pages may not be for all brands, some have built their Google+ pages and done quite well, but maybe not well enough to ax that Facebook page just yet.

In February Google rolled out an update to their algorithms likely directed at sites that duplicate content for article marketing as well as those that “spin&# articles (replacing phrases and words so they aren’t exact duplicates and then posting to article hosting sites). Once Google took it over it just wasn’t reliable. If, like many people you never migrated your Feedburner account to Google you don’t even have to now. Not only is it good SEO but it’s good to pay attention to my readers. Sometimes the feed would work, sometimes it would appear to be empty.

Do they get comments and do people share their content through social media? Gather links for their Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Linkedin profiles at a minimum. If the influencer is blogging, look up the page rank of their blog on Google to get an idea of how popular the site is. Do they seem to have knowledge in this are?

Not only is it good SEO (Search Engine Optimization), but it allows you to suggest the description that the user will get when they pin that image. <meta name="pinterest" content="nopin" /> Just include that in your meta tags and Pinterest will not allow pins from that page thorugh their PinIt browser add on.

Google+ is a great social network. Google+ is worth the effort. I like to say Google+ combines the best of Twitter and Facebook on one network. But nobody uses Google+. If I never share anything to the public and only share to circles then nobody knows I’m active on Google+. Here’s the thing.
