If you aren’t talking about your business then you are probably writing generic, boring content anyway, so most good blogs will understand the need for you to do this. Most large blogs have someone who manages the content, but who isn’t necessarily the face behind the blog. What level are they at in relation to the content?

Hopefully you’re using Feedburner to manage your RSS feeds—if so, you’ll have a clear idea of how many people are subscribing to your blog via RSS. I like to keep an eye on these stats particularly after I release a post, publish a guest post on another blog, or have a guest poster on my blog.

Feedburner If you’re a blogger and you’re not using Feedburner, I first of all want to know where you’ve been, and secondly need to say that you have been missing out. Feedburner basically provides the little yellow “chicklet&# that you see on the top right hand corner of this blog.

Our plan was to use these problems to plan future content that addresses specific needs you have (and we’ll do that), but recently we had the idea to actually answer a lot of them, in public, and hopefully solve a lot of the dilemmas that the average blogger faces. My biggest struggle is getting blog comments.

Recently, Posterous was acquired by Twitter, signifying that a shut-down of the platform was imminent. I noticed this in a big way; my blog, called I Love Tumblr , which focuses on Tumblr tips and tutorials, had a huge influx of new traffic (especially to my Tumblr vs Posterous article—no surprise there).

After a year of running the site it had 4,000 subscribers and 6 months after that my Feedburner chicklet had just ticked over 7,000. Guest posting is of course another hot-topic right now in the SEO world after Matt Cutts made an official announcement on the subject, recommending guest posters to no-follow links back to their site.
