Two weeks ago, I received a Klout Perk to be part of the Social 46, a gathering of Indiana’s top social media influencers. According to the Indianapolis Super Bowl Host Committee , Klout was used to help identify the participants, and the list was augmented manually with known local bloggers, gadflies, and connectors.

.&# Maybe you’re starting to think that influence is not about how many followers someone has on Twitter. Do apps like Klout or Twitalyzer really work to automate this? Klout & Critics: Time to Close the Door or Kick it Wide Open? So what is influence, really? Can it be measured (and if so, how)?

Does anyone else think its interesting that Twitter, the hottest social media network today, is generating events? Prediction: tomorrow’s event, event marketing and sponsorship opportunity is with “Tweet-ups” where like-minded Twitter-peeps meet up to meet each other in person. Everyone is doing it. Social media has reached the masses.

After all, sponsoring and hosting events is an industry too, and it employs a lot of people. Here’s a simple suggestion for all those organizations who would like to host incentive opportunities: have them around an industry tradeshow which you sponsor. Don’t want to host your incentive trip around a work tradeshow?
