When you own YouTube, helping take something else to new heights is not only small potatoes, but potentially at odds, strategically. This simple gesture makes it easy to use the audio feed on Podbean et al and then syndicate it to iTunes, and then take the video capture and uploading to Youtube (or setting it up as a video podcast).

But it is possible to make some basic comparisons using data from some of the free tools that are available. Since I’ve been comparing major news sites in variety of areas ( Facebook and Twitter impact; YouTube and new Digg activity; site speed and domain authority , among others) I thought I’d look at overall social media engagement too.

Put it on YouTube of course. Even better, use TubeMogul to syndicate it to dozens of other video sites. Consider the cost comparison of communicating the kind of messages, and the useful information that we can freely distribute now through the internet tools available versus the older media sources and their cost structures?

There are things that happen on any number of the vast number of video networks, not just Vimeo and YouTube that are out there today—Instagram, as we’ve seen over the past three to five years just being such a powerful voice across all demographics. And the use of YouTube etc to distribute the news about the Paywall. And to make sure the original source (those subjected to murders, floods and fire) don’t get too miffed about their stories being ripped out of their hands and syndicated at a profit, the community taboos around “They SOLD their story” were created.
