Corporate social media: skate everywhere the puck has been and is going

I've said repeatedly that corporate social media doesn't have its own strategy any more than Microsoft Word does. But that doesn't mean a company shouldn't be everywhere -- Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest and maybe a couple of. Social media is/are a set of really powerful tools, and therefore tactics, not a strategy.

Changes announced today to Facebook’s privacy agreement suggest the company is about to flip the switch and add location-based capabilities to the social network. Or Microsoft Word, which added HTML capability years ago but will never be used by serious Web developers. I don’t think so.

I used to work at an artificial intelligence company that made foreign language translation software. Neither of these is in my Microsoft Word dictionary, which means they are good words. It went on to suggest throwing out the rules of language, not worrying about grammar and spelling, and more.
