You may also know that taking a thoughtful and mindful approach to how we communicate with others really matters. We wanted online communities to be a reflection of our personalities and a place for personal expression.

Waay back in the 1990s I co-founded a startup on-line community for the restaurant industry. Blogs were in their infancy and we used bulletin boards and comment streams on posts to communicate with our user-base and we loved every second of it. Nobody saw how community could support a business model. Can you make money?

The Blue Key Community is a growing contingent of Americans to support over 6,000 UNHCR staffers working with refugees around the world to find them shelter, food and the care they need to survive and have hope for a brighter future. Then share with your friends on Facebook , donate a tweet a day, (tweet your own darn self too!)

This just encourages community discussion and give a wider point of view on the subject at hand. Do what I did, and ask your network on Twitter, Facebook, forums, whatever networks you belong too. It can be disappointing to go through your feed readers and see that many of the feeds have not been updated recently.

Shortly afterward Facebook launched their own app, Riff for mobile devices which allows you to create a video on your device and your Facebook friends can add their own clips to the video creating a collaborative story. If Meerkat can get acquired by Facebook or Google, it’s game on. I’m easy to find on both. The latest.
