I’d guess that this unusual evolution has led to a tech event which is more like a festival than a pure conference. This is not like any other conference you’ve attended. This applies to conferences, travel, everyday running around town. It can be much more affordable than the hotels. Not so much.

At the time, I was working for an organization headquartered in New York, so I traveled there frequently; as a result, I had a ton of reward points on Amtrak and various hotels. Ever budget-conscious, I booked what I thought was a great hotel, using my points… right in the heart of Times Square. It was terrible. That’s love.
