Why do they continue to comment and share these stories, even after they know them to be bogus? The story of the 60-year-old woman who supposedly shot and killed two teenagers who punched her.'

Facebook users have launched a handful of petition drives asking the social network to allow users to click a thumbs-down icon to give a news feed item, advertisement, etc. If I don’t want to read/see an item, Facebook already has a close button on every banner ad and news feed item. million members.

I learned this morning that in a previous post I had incorrectly identified Andrew Breitbart as a "Fox News blogger." I was in a cafe having breakfast with my children when I discovered this, so I was not able to revise the post, but I did immediately post a comment.

The paper (how’s that for a term describing an online news outlet?) can quickly post a steady stream of news items and photos. Readers can just as easily comment on an item, share it, or give it a StumbleUpon-style “Like” aka, a thumbs-up. FriendFeed gives the Sentinel all of the functionality a Web 2.0 enabled newsroom needs.

Is your Twitter account staffed by one or more real people who respond in real time to questions and comments? A one-way Twitter news feed can be useful, but it’s not engaged. For true engagement, your blog needs to have comments enabled, and moderated (reviewed by an editor prior to posting). Or is it a one-way feed?

Try it create a lot of engagement through comments and shares, as it will help you to market better. Though being strategic and consistent with your posts can be overwhelming in the beginning and will be a tough balance to maintain, the good news is that you can always adjust it! The Facebook algorithm favors images and videos more.

Major news outlets like CNN, the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times.
