They set up the hashtag #Comodomenu , put it on the bottom of the menu in the restaurant and online, and asked guests to both share their photos and tag them as well as browse the tag on Instagram to see what dishes were most popular. Make it easy for people to understand what they need to do, what the hashtag is and why they should care.

Then it encourages a user to try to get their network to respond to a comment or post about the site to show how much influence that user has. It’s getting pretty bad buzz on Twitter right now under the hashtag #InfluenceProject from a broad spectrum of people. The more people who click your link the more influence you have.

Mentions (@jfouts), Hashtags (#ADN) work pretty much the same. Like my personal favorite Twitter app, Tweetbot, it allows you to create drafts for later publishing and to quote a message and add your own comments to it before sending. In fact there are few posts I’ve made so far that even get to the limit.

The quick link or the witty comment shared on Twitter has the shelf life of maybe a couple of minutes before it’s buried in the Twitter stream. With Google+ you can toss off a quick comment on a link you’ve shared and find thoughtful commentary building on it for days, in a threaded format just like Facebook and popular forums.
