But the most egregious error on Apple’s part is the fact that they provide product forums, but don’t allow their employees to participate or comment. Plenty of social media professionals have experience that goes back to online bulletin boards, forums on CompuServe, Prodigy, and AOL, and online forums. Feel free to share them via comments or tweets! Believe it or not, online social networking didn’t start with Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

As the site owner/community manager, I even had someone threaten to come to my house in person so he could discuss the fact that I edited one of his posts for racist comments. I’d love to hear them in a comment! The post was accompanied by a photo of him holding his shotgun. No one likes a sore loser. Email this to a friend?
