I adore the ease of creating a blog with Google’s Blogger (or Blogspot) platform — which AriWriter once was before migrating to WordPress in the fall of 2008 — but the commenting system is not user friendly. Good luck adding a comment from a mobile device, for instance. Enter Disqus. No related posts.

Asked to add a comment quickly on a blog such as this with the built-in WordPress commenting system, you can easily step up to the opportunity. You submit your comment and voila! Scroll below his post to add a comment — and be forced to comment through Facebook. Whether or not you choose to share that comment on your Facebook wall is up to you, but it’s either comment with Facebook or don’t comment at all. His readers preferred Disqus. Danny’s reason?

There are many reasons for the change back to the default, most notably that many long-time commentators had complained about various functions (or lack of functions and didn’t want to wait until future plugin versions included their wish lists). Marking comments as spam, for instance, required multiple clicks instead of one.

Everett disagrees in his latest, also on comments : You might have noticed that I’ve had commenting turned off for the last 4 weeks. Well, I’m back now, but comments aren’t.

If visitors remained near-constant, what of comments? Disregarding the initial article that introduced the comment system, the subsequent 11 articles saw an average 8 comments. It is notable that frequent commentators prior to July 25 are no longer here — but that may also be due to my commenting on their blogs less.
