Answers, comments posted on your blog, etc. Again, more is generally better (spammy blog comments aside), as engagement is the “social&# in social media. Sentiment: Are the comments, posts etc. average time spent on site, number of pages viewed, bounce rate) and even conversion (lead or sale) sources. Tweet This!

You can also measure and track engagement while determining which conversations in chat rooms, forums, etc. Buzzlogic – As it says on their company page “Welcome to the Conversation&#. The ability to track conversations regarding your brand (or that of your competitors) around the web is also available.

Maybe Radian6 , SM2 , Trackur or one of these social media listening tools I mention when I give talks on social media. Also watch to see who is driving these conversations. Remember an opposing viewpoint merely gives you an opportunity to start a conversation. Pay attention to who is listening to the negative comment.

It’s mentioned in the comments along with several dozen other tips on social media on Small Business Trends. The Social Selling LinkedIn group is over 400 members and many great conversations have been going on around social media and sales. I’ve been using a social monitoring tool called Alterian SM2.
