I follow quite a few blogs, and I would miss a lot of great content if I used a reader. Without fail, you check your email messages so it makes sense to use email for as many things as possible: work contacts, social contacts, blog comments, and of course subscriptions to other blogs. I devour email. One inbox. Email is so simple.

I have 112 friends on the site and I’m content with that number. People follow my feed there and like/comment when inspired. I learned a lot about myself and how I want to distinguish my use of the different tools. Facebook is overrated, I realized during the fourth quarter of the year. Ditto me on their photos.

Targeted traffic on the other hand refers to people who already have interest on the content of your site and will constantly visit it. Probably because you have a content that appeals to their needs and they will continue to come back as long as you retain your high quality creation efforts. Why will they return often?

And most blogs that do well have a single theme and the audience can depend on the theme dictating the content of the blog. It seemed smart: more content means more traffic, and more traffic is good. If you can’t convey new ideas on your blog, then you probably won’t get a lot of traffic.

Newspaper management around the world recognize it is a cost-effective no-brainer to spread awareness about their news content and columnists on social networking sites, with the hopes people tell their friends and share that content and then visit the newspapers’ websites to read more and hopefully subscribe.
