5 Incredible Small Business Marketing Resources You Haven’t Heard Of

Jason Yormark

If so, share in the comments section as I’d love to hear about them. Throughout my professional career, I’ve always had a love for small business. Whether it was creating them myself, or helping others, small business is the backbone of our economy, and I always love finding tools and resources that can help small businesses navigate their marketing needs. It can be incredibly tough to find the time and budget to effectively market your small business, so anytime I find something I think can help, I feel compelled to shout it from the rooftops! What say you?

Restaurant Social Media Marketing Results In The Flesh

Jason Yormark

Over a 1500% increase in engagement (combination of likes, shares and comments on wall postings). “I love it when a plan comes together!” Emory’s has an interesting history as the original building actually burned to the ground a few years ago and was completely rebuilt and re-launched.  It’s a fantastic restaurant right off a small lake, and their are very few options like it in the area.  Good food, great environment, and fantastic service.  They were doing good business, but wanted to ensure they didn’t suffer from the same early year drops in business.

Think Before You Tweet

Jason Yormark

Quite a few people found his comments to be “dissing” Tim Tebow, or implying that Tebow wasn’t a quality player.  It doesn’t matter what Cromartie “meant” with his tweets, it’s how they were perceived. It never ceases to amaze me how many people (mainly professional athletes and celebrities), communicate on social media platforms so carelessly.  I think it’s great that many of these folks are using these channels to connect with their fans and provide glimpses into their professional lives. Take the latest case. Social Media

Thoughts On Making The Forbes Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers

Jason Yormark

So I’m humbled, but also realistic to know that it’s just a subjective list and could easily be argued (which if you take a look at the comments is already the case). It can be easy to get caught up in being named to top lists on the web. Quite frankly anyone can create a list of top anything and include those people or things that they find worthy of the list based on a variety of factors. But I can’t help but feel honored to be included on the Who Are The Top 50 Social Media Power Influencers? list by Forbes.  I mean…it is Forbes right? More to come!

How Do You Define Blogging Success?

Jason Yormark

While I’ve been able to grow my audience and blog traffic, my engagement and back links are a little less then to be desired.  It doesn’t surprise me though as this is a direct result of a lack of time.  To improve my engagement I simply need to comment more on other like minded blogs.  As much as I enjoy doing this, it’s a time thing.  My blog often stresses me out.

It’s practically impossible to read through the list of comments without hearing them in your head as a pompous “I’m better than you” tone. Who can beat me in the comments? Anatomy Of A Blog Redesign: Meet The Standard WordPress Theme

Jason Yormark

wanted to stray away from a 3rd party commenting system to improve performance, stability, and to be able to integrate the CommentLuv plugin which I also highly recommend. CommentLuv encourages more comments through dofollow links and the ability to give commenters the option of promoting their blog links as part of the comment. But rightfully so I believe. Last year I paid a pretty penny for a custom site that initially I really liked, but just like anything, times change. These included: I wanted a theme that was a bit more minimilist. Wordpress

My Backlinks Strategy Sucks, And What I Plan To Do About It

Actively Commenting – It’s hard enough to find the time to actually write on my blog let alone find time to engage on others, but it’s really an important part of the whole process if you’re serious about building out your own blog. Solving The Mystery Of My Highest Blog Traffic Day Yet

Jason Yormark

Which is actually hard to believe because I don’t have as many comments on it as I usually do. Yesterday was the day. Yesterday was the day I broke my long standing one day traffic record on my blog. And I can honestly say, I have no idea why.  I continue to dig into the numbers, but I only have a few ideas of what may have caused the spike.  At the very least, it’s an interesting look into the steps I take when I typically post to my blog, and I thought it would be a useful post to share. About 1,800 page views for a blog that rarely got 20. Until yesterday. Currently 219.

League Of Awesomeness, Volume 1

Would love to hear in the comments. For awhile I’ve been wanting to leverage the blog I’ve built up to recognize folks I come across that for whatever are reason, are awesome in who they are or what they do.  It’s hard enough to find great talent, service, or resources in a day and age where we are overwhelmed with information. Good people are hard to come by, and I feel compelled to share the ones I come across here and there if for no other reason to promote them as they certainly deserve it. Comments or inquires are typically met quickly by friendly staff. I always feel compelled to share some of my favorite things that I experience or use whether they be everyday occurrences  or one time experiences.  I thought the best way to do so was to wrap them up into a yearly recap to make it easier to compile all of them.  So without further ado, here were my favorite products, experiences and services I used in the past year that you should definitely check out. Facebook Page Or Profile? I Say Both.

Jason Yormark

Would love to see examples of others who have done the same and if so, leave your page links in the comments. I wrestled with the idea of creating a Facebook Page for my blog vs. just utilizing my Facebook Profile to promote.  My initial thought was that I didn’t really see myself as being “celebrity” enough to warrant having what was once referred to as a “fan page”.  It felt a bit vain to me, but I started to sense that I needed to re-visit the issue as more and more people I did not really know wanted to start connecting with me on Facebook professionally. Leave me a comment as I’d love to hear. About a year ago, I remember reaching a crossroads for myself around what career path I wanted to align myself with. I had built up close to 12+ years of experience around digital marketing, but was really gravitating towards social media marketing. I was lucky to be in the right place at the right time at Microsoft Advertising on the community team. never really considered myself to be that, but I felt fortunate that my career path said otherwise. In an effort to spark more ideas to blog about, I thought it was time I started a blogging “series” and the idea that came to mind was sharing my experiences (successes and failures) around how my blog has matured over the years and what I’ve learned.
