JUNE 4, 2015 [Campaign, Health Care] Persuasive Communication: Do You Know How to Beat Bias?
Back in 2009, when the Obama team rolled out the Affordable Care Act , I believe I’ll make no political enemies by saying that the Obama communications team didn’t do a great job getting out in front of the news. And who will suffer the most when they ration care? There is a whole list of cognitive biases to consider when you’re putting together a persuasive communication campaign.

DAVE FLEET | THURSDAY, APRIL 5, 2012 [Campaign, Health Care] I Am Terrific! A Lesson in StoryBranding
Take stock of the how often brands depend on self praise in their advertising, as in “we are reliable, we are caring, tasty, smart, cool, friendly, sexy etc.” thought all along that this health care center that I come to for the sake of staying alive was just mediocre. Could it be that it’s always done this way, that it’s culturally acceptable for advertisers to brag and boast about who they are and what they do? We ignore most of it anyway, so why care? The following is a guest post by Jim Signorelli. Let me know what you think. Right? MORE >>

Another example is our health care clinic client which previously had struggled to reach even a handful of potential customers organically via Facebook. If you are like a lmost half of PR professionals you do not use paid promotion or social media advertising as part of your communications strategies and plans. Likely, you are a PR purist who believes that earned media coverage is the Holy Grail. The problem though, is that it’s harder to get coverage. Paid promotion provides great value for money. MORE >>

But when I look around at my life now, I realize I have so many of those things that truly matter most to me—a wonderful wife to share my life with, friends and family that I care about and whose company I truly enjoy, and finally starting to feel confident enough to live my life. Whether it’s astroturfing campaigns, or violating FTC regs when we pay social media “influencers,” there are some questionable practices that are done because “it’s what the client wants,” or “the ends justify the means,” or “because I can and no one will stop me.”. Wow, this is a hard one. OK, OK. MORE >>

In case I’m being too oblique, I’m talking about ministers and prime ministers that remove Press (our informants) from critical democratic discussions, who ignore demonstrations and petitions, who fund Big Pharma through increased medical research monies while removing basic health care for the very poor with out explaining why… Direct Democracy. Imagine if you could vote on every issue in society – refugees, climate, research, education, health – would you do it? Which is fine, you cared enough to forward on, but not enough to get involved.
