Microsoft Buys 26 Contosoyams Domain Names

Microsoft is up to something. I’m not sure what, but I am really curious as to why Microsoft recently registered 26 domain names at once: all related to the word contosoyams. The whole reason I bring this up is that Microsoft doesn’t normally register a lot of domain names all at once like this. contosoyams.net.

Microsoft has purchased eight domain names related to search engine optimization (SEO). I am not quite sure about the reasoning behind this move by Microsoft, the owner of the Bing.com search engine. It does not appear that any of the.com domains are owned by Microsoft at this point. searchengineoptimizationforbing.net.

I know this might be a stretch, but I am really curious about one of the domain names that was just registered, and was set up on Microsoft’s name servers: vericen.com. Well, most likely it was NOT Microsoft that registered this domain name.
