Growing Popularity of Social Shopping

Social commerce has become one of the most talked about practices, where users can make purchases directly through a brand’s social media page. According to a Bizrate Insights survey cited by eMarketer, more than one-third (34%) of adults said they had made a purchase through social media, up from 29% last year, and another 27% said they were interested in social shopping. This was an increase from November 2018 polling, which found that 29% of respondents said they had made a social commerce transaction and 71% who hadn’t.

Instagram Introduces New Chat Stickers for Stories

An influencer agency located in the UK partnered with a neuroanalytics firm to determine people’s emotional reactions as well as retention after seeing influencer ads compared to TV, Facebook, and YouTube ads. According to eMarketer, the research showed that influencer ads generated 277% greater emotional intensity and 87% higher memory encoding in participants than TV ads did. Influencer ads were also similarly more effective than Facebook and YouTube ads, particularly when it came to memory encoding.

LinkedIn Launches New Insights Hub

LinkedIn has been stepping up their game lately. LinkedIn unveiled a new page dedicated to insights and research which is designed to help marketers make more informed decisions on their social media strategies. The new Insights and Research hub is divided into three sections: People Insights, Industry Insights and Advertising insights.

  • People Insights: In this section, marketers can learn about LinkedIn audiences at an aggregate level – such as who they are, where they’re from, and what they engage with.
  • Industry Insights: This section includes insights, trends, and research on the LinkedIn marketing landscape.
  • Advertising Insights: This section can help marketers fully understand the LinkedIn advertising landscape in order to measure and maximize their marketing impact.
