It wasn’t love at first sight as Twitter was a new technology that I wasn’t sure could be used for public relations or reputation management.

Buffer App – It is really easy to get caught up in the instant gratification of Twitter and share impulsively. It also allows you to go back and change the stories that you have lined up if you did an impulse share, almost like an undo button that isn’t available on Twitter. Sure it’s 40 million user-base is dwarfed by those of Facebook, Twitter and even LinkedIn, but none of them have the user base of Google. Until then, I think it’s too early to be playing grim reaper, but still wouldn’t be running to the store to pick up a book telling you how to use it for business. Think I am wrong? Think again.

Many social media books use his historic campaign as an example or case study of an effective social media strategy. As his Twitter profile notes, only Tweets marked BO are coming directly from the Commander in Chief. Obama’s Twitter account was more of a news resource than call to action for his agenda. So engaging, it is not.
