It seems like almost every day more and more cool sites are popping up taking advantage of the social web. A few weeks ago I stumbled across another gem, Lanyrd and it’s officially my go to site for all things conferences. I’m always a fan of great UI and simplicity in execution, and Lanyrd nails both.

This is not a knock on those that do on hosted platforms like WordPress.com, Blogger or Tumblr, they do exist. Apparently not based on this support thread on Klout’s own site. But to not include and factor self hosted blogs is a serious miss on Klout’s part.

The same reason 40+ other bloggers are doing the same on websites like Social Media Today and in this case Social Media Informer. I just have a tiny little place on the web comparatively to most successful bloggers, and the reality is, what harm is there in getting my content in front of a new audience? Tweet This!

These add ons turn what essentially is a blogging platform, into just about any type of site you want from community to content management systems to storefronts. It’s a great way to keep your readers engaged on your site and to drive down bounce rates. You can leave a response , or trackback from your own site.

Content Syndication – I’ve got my content currently being syndicated on sites such as Social Media Today & Business2Community. What I didn’t realize is that the automated process which both use to grab your content do not properly format the author footer in a way that attributes your site that the search engines “like”.

I don’t have time to just “stumble” around looking at site recommendations. Email Newsletter – Every blogger and their sister will tell you that you need to have an email newsletter. I’ve tried it on numerous occasions but I just don’t get it. It doesn’t provide any value for me.

If you are a serious blogger or a digital marketer, it’s a must have. You can also access your bookmarks on their site if you are ever on a public computer. Of course this only really works if you use Feedburner (which many bloggers do), but my blog subscribers skyrocketed once I started using FriendFeed.
