But since we all seem to use shortened URL’s these days, does it really make a difference? I am concerned about losing the existing followers that I currently have if the URL changes. This will usually lead to those bloggers coming back to your site and engaging with you in your blog as well.

There are several other options, such as Flickr, Tumblr, WordPress, Blogger, etc… even Ping.fm. Plus if you dont cross post the same URLs, its a good way to see which platform drives more traffic, builds connections, Amplify or Twitter. I don’t auto-post to all of those, but it’s nice to have the option.
