I was inspired to write this blog post based on an article that surfaced in my Facebook feed about Appetas , a restaurant website service, that up until now, offered restaurants a turn-key solution to having a website with useful integrated features such as menus, online ordering etc. Appetas announced today they were acquired by Google.

I’ve written on my blog for quite some time, and I’ve had a mild amount of success with it depending on how you define success. I feel that I write fairly useful and/or entertaining blog posts that most seem to find interesting or helpful. But somewhere I’m missing the boat on getting those blog posts referenced more often.

These add ons turn what essentially is a blogging platform, into just about any type of site you want from community to content management systems to storefronts. If you are running a hosted WordPress blog you should definitely check these out. It truly is amazing. A unique design, simple to use, and…well sexy. Very cool stuff.

YouTube just turned 6 today and they released some staggering statistics ( source link ): -3 billion views per day (up 50% in the past 12 months). -48 So the question you have to ask yourself is, are you using YouTube as part of your overall marketing or blogging strategy? Use YouTube as a community more.
