The WordPress plugin shows me two graphs that indicate 1,679 potential blog comments were marked as spam. The plugin uses CAPTCHA to verify humanity and not robotic behaviors, such as systems that scour blogs and post autonomous off-topic comments ripe with vulgarity and links. But for some reason that I was never able to understand, their comments were considered spam by Akismet — the most popular anti-spam plugin used by nearly all WordPress blogs. I deactivated Akismet from this blog’s list of plugins and installed a new plugin with the memorable acronym of G.A.S.P. No longer.
