Reading Roundup: What's new in blogging this week / ProBlogger.net

I don’t know about you but the fact we’re half way through October really freaks me out. I’m neck-deep in editorial schedules and I even wrote “2017” on a post the other day – where did this year go?

As usual, the news that caught my eye this week is pretty diverse – small business blogging stuff, emojis, online courses, and case studies of folk who are doing it right online. Enjoy!

I’ve saved this to read again and again – there’s so much to unpack! So pleased they put “communication” first, because without it we’d get absolutely nowhere. It’s that important.

The Best Startup Marketing Tools a Small Business Should Employ | Socialnomics

I’ve been speaking to a bunch of startup small businesses at the moment, right at the point where they’re just dipping their toe into the world of social media marketing – I forget how overwhelming and confusing it can be! So if you’re in that position, these are the ultimate basics you have to have to get started. I’d include CoSchedule in there, but that might not be for everyone who doesn’t also have a blog to run.

Keyword Explorer is already plenty of people’s keyword research tool of choice, but if you’re still on the fence, these upgrades just might convince you.

Facebook Launches “Marketplace” | Milk It Academy
It’s been buggy as hell but I dare say it’s going to sort itself out fairly quickly. I notice it’s already been given pride of place in the app where the messenger icon used to be. This is going to be very interesting – especially if you have something to sell.

Why Shameless Content Marketing is the Only Content Marketing That Works | Convince & Convert

It’s true, we’re often too worried about what people think and so caught up in not annoying people that we aren’t marketing as successfully as we could. Sometimes you really just have to put yourself and your product first.

How to Host a Webinar That People Remember | Search Engine Journal

I know more and more of you are hosting these for your audience, but they’re so important to get right. A boring webinar will not win you any fans!

  1. Hey Stacey,

The list is informative. I have read the article by Moz and another about the Facebook feeds mistakes.

All the other articles are yet to be read. Thanks for letting us know about the latest trends.

  2. Hi Stacey,

Thanks for the articles. I guess I need to accept the fact that emojis aren’t going anywhere!
