Whaddya Mean-Blogging is Dead?

Every few months somebody proclaims that blogging is dead and being replaced by micro blogging and other media and this post on the Forbes blog by Jeff Bercovici seems to say that Facebook and Twitter are replacing blogging. I’ve never been a daily blogger, but that doesn’t devalue blogging itself.

You see, lots of bloggers have their blog posts syndicated on other sites that aggregate content, and sometimes we write posts specific to a site just to get our names in front of more readers who frequent that particular web site. It’s like guest blogging, but more focused.

You see it in the comments and on some of the best blogs the comments from the regular readers are as valuable or better than the actual post itself. Blogs have subscribers but not members, so do they even qualify as community?

You’ll find a community of other people working in that very same space participating in social media somewhere. Once you find out where the people you want to talk to are you can create a strategy to build your brand.
