TLC made many missteps when it came to their social media marketing efforts. Before long, social networks became hugely successful, and savvy marketers realized that they could create accounts on these networks to promote themselves. Seems odd to ask where to put FourSquare badges anyhow. I’m not convinced.

Facebook understands its demographics and practices smart marketing. The Apple Students Group is a great way for Apple to market its own products, and over the summer, it offered free songs through iTunes. Last year, Facebook held an NCAA tournament on its site (which was another clever marketing tactic). Thoughtful.

At SXSW, each attendee had their unique QR code printed on their name badge. Social Integration Maybe I just heard what I wanted to hear/preach, but there seemed to be a lot of chatter among returning attendees and experienced social media types about integrating social media with other marketing and/or customer service elements.
