I was told that the “mistake&# about the Foursquare-Facebook promotion was legitimate, since they were polling users on Facebook to find places where Foursquare badges can be given — yes, read that again. Seems odd to ask where to put FourSquare badges anyhow. But yes, check your feed! I’m not convinced.

In my case, I have particularly taken a liking to the News Feed. As a small extension of that, Facebook allows you to create your own “profile badge,&# a snippet of code that you can display on other websites, and even for users who don’t have Facebook. Face it (no pun intended), Facebook is the ultimate stalker tool.

I also agree that ThinkGeek's approach with two Twitter feeds to satisfy the needs of different audiences (attitudinally based vs. demographically- or even activity-based) is a step in the right direction. 39% of the people that check email first still use Facebook daily, but their motivation for doing so remains deal-centric.
