First, make a list of search terms you would deem relevant to your audience and make sure you have great content about these words written throughout your site (where relevant). These reviews can help with your rankings and will help you to get visitors over to your site when you are being found on the search engines.

For whatever reason, I have a hell of a time getting my articles linked to more often. Content Syndication – I’ve got my content currently being syndicated on sites such as Social Media Today & Business2Community. My Alex rank continues to climb a bit as I’m dancing in the 300,000 range.

By properly identifying a strong term like this, and using it in your blog title and post, you can often find your blog article working it’s way up very quickly in search results. On December 28th of last year, I decided to write an article about my experience with replacing my Macbook Pro with a Macbook Air.

Find Linked In Groups that relate to the topic(s) you write about or provide on your site. You have to manually post to each group, so find a good core of 5-10 groups that are relevant to you or your site and request to join. Post your blog articles and/or relevant content. Don’t get too crazy here. Answer Linked In Questions.

These were the top 10 visited blog articles I wrote in the past year. Most achieved a Postrank of higher then 6, and 9 out of the 10 articles dealt with social media. In this table we have the top 10 sources of traffic including time spent on the site and bounce rate. 9 of my top 10 blog articles are social media related.

But what drives me nuts is websites that actually put each item on it’s own page making you click through every one to read the entire article. Unless your charging for your content (and justifiably so), don’t make users register on your site to access content. Seriously, you want to monetize your site? Walled Content.
