Twitter Has Acquired Tweetdeck

Tweet Tuesday this week, the deal between Twitter and Tweetdeck was sealed. There have been rumours of the acquisition for several months now, but finally it was made official: Tweetdeck will be joining Twitter. Tweetdeck has so far existed as one of the leading third-party Twitter desktop applications. In other words, it is a great tool to track real-time conversations.

For quite some time Tweetdeck was my preferred choice when it came to social media management software. I’ve typically chosen software based solutions over web based ones for speed and performance when it comes to high touch computing. And for awhile Tweetdeck was meeting my needs, but I just grew increasingly more frustrated with performance issues with the Adobe Air platform. It certainly doesn’t suffer from the slow downs I experienced with Tweetdeck. So here is my short list of things so far that have me loving Hootsuite vs Tweetdeck: Tabs – Love the tabs.

The ever popular twitter app, Tweetdeck , has finally come to Android. Just announced, Tweetdeck 1.0 Tweetdeck had a whopping 36,000 beta testers prior to this launch in an effort to make sure the app worked without fail. However, you still want to take into consideration the way that your Twitter header image will appear on TweetDeck because they do vary a bit in size. While TweetDeck and HootSuite allow you to create lists and columns to sort tweets, they don’t allow you to do any actual in-column sorting. It has a host of other extras such as the ability to create filters, and monitor search terms or accounts and it’s own music application where you can search and listen to music straight from the page. before I even knew what it did.

Once you have created a few lists (or found good ones to follow on sites like Listorious , you can login to Twitter and go straight to your lists, or setup your TweetDeck , HootSuite , or other Twitter applications to show you the people you are following on those lists. If you’re a reciprocal auto-follower, use TweetDeck’s New Followers column to spot out bad followings from the beginning and unfollow those that don’t interest you. Niacavagnaro I use TweetDeck combined with Constant Contact's Nutshell Mail. have NM send at 7am and 2pm then I respond through TweetDeck to Facebook, twitter, linkedin and google buzz, which are updated all at once. Twitter Tweetdeck I use Tweetdeck for serious twitter sessions. It doesn’t have the advanced functionality of Tweetdeck (such as cross-posting to Facebook), but it’s so easy-to-use that it’s my favorite Twitter app. It takes up a lot less screen real estate that Tweetdeck, and I always use Tweetie when conducting my live, Twitter 20 interviews. Smart.
