Long time power users of Linkedin have been using Linkedin Applications to enhance their profiles with deeper information and sharing opportunities. Now some of those applications are being replaced and the site is slowly moving accounts to the new system. You’ll still be able to add content through their new rich media feature.

When an application like Hootsuite, Tweetdeck or a mobile Twitter app like Tweetbot checks your account on Twitter, it’s what is called an “API Call” This does NOT include the number of messages you send through these tools, only the number of times the tool hits the Twitter server to check for more. If you participate in Twitter chats regularly you’re as sad as I am to hear that Twitter’s API changes made it difficult for some applications to work. This is a great new feature so users will be sure to see the tweets of the host or person being interviewed in the chat.

It’s important to remember this is designed as a platform, not an application. Applications are being developed around it and make it richer in many ways. As a result there is a substantial list of 3rd party applications for ADN already. How cool is that? For the users it’s actually very cool.

These groups can be private or public and added some new features that are specific to more of a work-group mentality like uploading documents etc. As for all those applications you’ve been signing up for and forgetting, now you can which applications are seeing your data and when they last accessed it all in one place as well.

These are what Facebook calls “Grey accounts” These are accounts where you are using a 3rd party application to manage your ads, known as “shared logins” You’ll need to enable these accounts through your business manager directly. More on that below. What about “Grey Accounts”? Bottom line?

Everybody is talking about the deadline on March 11 when Facebook will no longer allow users to add new FBML applications to their Facebook page. Besides, if you’re not a coder, or don’t have one working for you, it can be a bit daunting to create a Facebook application and the code for the iframes yourself.
